2024 ASA Teachers' Workshop: Islam in Africa

Join us for our annual virtual ASA Teachers Workshop entitled "Islam in Africa" on Saturday, December 7th, from 12pm-3pm ET. This workshop is designed to provide educators with a deeper understanding of the Islam in Africa and provide resources to teach about the subject matter in your classrooms. Each session will include a curriculum resource discussion, with a particular focus on "The Gold Road Project", an interactive and dynamic teaching resource that highlights the people, places, and items related to the medieval Sudanic empires of Ghana, Mali and Songhai. Workshop themes include the history of Islam in Africa, architecture along the Gold Road, the diversity of Muslim identity, and more.
